Statement of Purpose Rahul Verma — MS in Computer Science, University of Toronto My interest in this field began with building a small app that predicted crop prices for farmers in my village. That experience showed me how technology can create real change in people's lives, and it is the reason I wish to pursue the MS in Computer Science at University of Toronto. I completed my B.Tech in Computer Science from VIT Vellore with 8.6 CGPA. Coursework gave me a strong foundation, but my most valuable learning came from a machine learning model for detecting plant diseases from leaf images, which achieved 92% accuracy. Working on this taught me to break complex problems into manageable parts, to read research critically and to persevere when results were not as expected. Beyond academics, I gained practical experience through a six-month internship at a Bengaluru start-up where I worked on data pipelines. Working with a professional team improved my communication and showed me how ideas move from concept to real users. I have chosen University of Toronto because of its strong research in machine learning and the chance to work with leading faculty. Studying in Canada will also expose me to diverse perspectives that will broaden how I approach problems. After completing the program, my goal is to build AI products that solve agricultural problems in India. I believe the MS in Computer Science is the right next step to gain the depth of knowledge and skills I need. I am confident that my background, curiosity and commitment make me a strong candidate, and I would be grateful for the opportunity to learn and contribute at University of Toronto.
